Millionaires and highly successful people have several things in common…besides their money. Their lifestyle habits, the things they focus on daily, are key factors in reaching their biggest achievements. Fortunately for you, we made a compilation of the habits shared by prominent entrepreneurs and business people that are simple to adopt and are focused on boosting the health of both businesses and the people who run them.

1.- Exercising

It’s scientifically proven that exercise helps us release stress, have mental clarity and be more productive…it’s just a matter of doing it. For doing it, there are many options and each one of us adapts to different routines. We have three basic recommendations to adopt this habit: 1a) Start small. Set an easy to achieve goal that doesn't depend on other factors, like “walking 30 minutes a day”. 1b) Do it for a couple of months. At first it can be hard, but once you regularly do an exercise for this period of time, your body starts to adapt and instead of having a hard time, it will enjoy it. Naturally you will want to do it. 1c) Entertainment while exercising. Take advantage of this moment to listen to podcasts related to work, news about your profession, or if you just want to disconnect, listen to really good music. 

2.- Waking up before Dawn

There are many people who are night owls, and that’s fine. But the vast majority of millionaires are active even before dawn. If you are one of those who “work better at night”, consider changing your routine. There are many techniques to achieve this and in the business world, mornings are key. The couple of extra hours you get from waking up early goes a long way for many things, especially for personal ones. Starting the day with activities that nurture us is of the utmost importance, it also fills us with energy and puts us in the right mood to make good decisions from the beginning of the working day.

3.- Constantly grinding and learning

Regardless of your expertise in one area or another, you can always be better. It’s important to constantly seek new knowledge. This can be done with courses, a master’s degree, doctorates and professional workshops, or simply by doing continuous research on the topics that interest us. If you need help developing this habit, sites and apps like Coursera, Khan Academy, Peak, Lumosity, Gibbon, Duolingo, TED, and Youtube Edu are some examples that can be useful.

4.- Practice Self-Reflection

It could be once a year, a month, a week, a day, or all the above, but it is necessary to make time for introspection. Continuously thinking about our personal and professional life will give us a better vision of what we want to achieve and what we are doing to reach it. It’s good practice to set aside a couple of hours, possibly on the weekends, to clear your mind and self-reflect. It’s also a good idea to take advantage of the moments of exercise to do this meditation, usually the landscapes and the physical well-being of a walk with fresh air will help us organize our ideas.

5.- Reading

It sounds like a cliché, but the habit of reading brings many physical and psychological benefits. It’s simple, reading usually reduces stress, promotes good humor, boosts imagination, improves memory, generates knowledge, encourages analytical thinking, expands vocabulary, improves writing skills, among other advantages. Our recommendation is to practice reading before bed.

6.- Stay frugal, hungry and naive

Steve Jobs coined the now famous phrase, “stay hungry, stay foolish”. We emphasize the importance of keeping a low profile, without exceeding our lifestyle and always curious and with ingenuity that allows us to exceed our own expectations: only by thinking in the impossible, one can achieve it. We cannot stress enough that although your personal finances can be growing, it’s not a good reason to spend on what's not needed. Keep your expenses and necessities as basic as possible.

7.- Nurture personal relationships

People with a lot of money usually do not have many friends, they only have a few very important ones and other acquaintances. It’s important to know how to choose real friends, always look for people from which you can learn, smarter, more successful people, and make them close friends. This does not mean that you should only limit yourself to a close circle of people. Additionally to your close circle, it can be simple and important to maintain healthy relationships with other acquaintances. We recommend hanging out with these relationships every once in a while; make a call, a visit or send an email to say hello, be effusive and sincere when you greet them, share a coffee, a meal or a beer, any activity that allows you to maintain a lasting relationship through the years.
